CALGARY GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇨🇦 Calgary, Alberta, CA
Designed by Tom Bendelow, Willie Park Jr.

Calgary Golf & Country Club's early prominence stemmed from a group of wheat barons who sought a recreational escape within the city limits. Nestled in the Elbow River Valley of southwest Calgary, the course is a primarily flat, parkland layout, a contrast to the rolling foothills nearby. Length isn’t a dominant defense here, as the course favors precise iron play and rewards those who can strategically navigate the tree-lined fairways.
Originally designed by Willie Park Jr. in 1911, the course has seen renovations over the years, most notably, by Stanley Thompson. The greens, while subtle, demand attention and a keen eye. The routing makes the most of the land’s natural features, with the Elbow River occasionally coming into play.
The club hasn't hosted any major professional tournaments, but its history is intertwined with the city's social fabric. This is a course and membership steeped in local heritage. While not boasting a national profile, Calgary Golf & Country Club remains a well-regarded and exclusive establishment within Alberta's golf community, a place where tradition and community are held in high esteem. Their member-guest events are legendary, especially the stag night.
Reviews
Played with a few customers who shot at least 110-120 but kept pace and picked up a lot. Also played with a set of reg flex granite rentals with bad grips. Loved every second of it. This place is awesome.
