CALABASAS COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Calabasas, CA, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.

Calabasas Country Club occupies rolling terrain in the Santa Monica Mountains foothills northwest of Los Angeles, where Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the course in the early 1970s. The layout reflects Jones's characteristic strategic approach from that era, with generous fairways that reward precise positioning, substantial bunkering that frames landing areas and greens, and water features integrated into several holes. The routing takes advantage of the natural elevation changes in this part of the San Fernando Valley, offering views across the surrounding hills and canyons.
The course sits within a residential community setting typical of Southern California country clubs developed during the region's suburban expansion. Jones shaped the property to create distinct playing corridors separated by native vegetation and specimen trees, with the Mediterranean climate allowing for year-round conditioning. His design emphasizes options from the tee and demands thoughtful club selection on approaches to greens that feature his signature contouring and strategic bunkering patterns.
Calabasas Country Club serves a local membership drawn from the affluent communities of western Los Angeles County. The facility includes traditional clubhouse amenities and has maintained its role as a private club focused on member golf and social activities. The course represents Jones's work during a prolific period when he designed numerous layouts across California, adapting his design principles to the state's varied terrain and climate conditions.
Reviews
Legit track with awesome greens. 3 wonky holes on the back I could do without but the last 3 holes (and 8/9) are awesome golf holes.
Challenging So Cal private club. Pretty good course some interesting holes it’s walkable but I’d prefer riding here. Not easy by any means, rough was thick and course was wet the day I played. Pace of play was slow but still an enjoyable day. I’d play it again
