CABO SAN LUCAS COUNTRY CLUB
🇲🇽 Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, MX
Designed by Perry Dye

Cabo San Lucas Country Club holds the distinction of being among the first championship-caliber courses to shape golf tourism in Los Cabos. The original layout, a desert-style design, favors a strategic game, rewarding thoughtful club selection and the ability to navigate the prevailing winds that sweep across the Baja Peninsula. Its fairly open fairways and approachable green complexes don't punish higher handicaps, and errant tee shots tend to be recoverable.
Pete Dye's influence is evident in the shaping of the greens and the bunkering, though subsequent renovations have softened some of the original design's sharper edges. The undulation around the putting surfaces asks for creative shotmaking, and players are often forced to utilize the terrain. The native scrub and cacti bordering the fairways and the mountain views make for a pleasant round for both local members and vacationing golfers alike.
While the club hasn't hosted any major professional tournaments, it serves as a popular destination for casual play among tourists and the area's growing community of full-time residents. Post-round gatherings often center around the clubhouse cantina, where tales of near misses and improbable birdies are shared with equal enthusiasm. The margaritas are excellent.
