GolfResort Semlin am See sits in the Brandenburg countryside near Rathenow, approximately 70 kilometers west of Berlin. The course occupies land adjacent to Semlin Lake (Semliner See), a glacial remnant typical of this region's post-ice age topography. Architect Christoph Stadler, a German designer active in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, laid out the routing to incorporate the area's natural water features and relatively flat terrain characteristic of the North German Plain. The layout takes advantage of the lakeside setting, with several holes playing along or toward the water. The Brandenburg landscape here consists of mixed woodlands, open fields, and wetland margins, and the course integrates these elements into its design. The flat to gently rolling ground allows for strategic bunkering and water hazards to provide the primary challenge, as dramatic elevation changes are absent from this geography.
