BYRNCLIFF RESORT & CONFERENCE CENTER
🇺🇸 Varysburg, NY, USA
Designed by William Harries

Byrncliff sits in the rolling farmland of western New York's Wyoming County, approximately forty miles southeast of Buffalo. Designed by William Harries and opened in the early 1970s, the course occupies terrain characteristic of the region—gently undulating land with stands of mature hardwoods and open meadow areas that provide definition and framing throughout the routing.
The layout reflects the design sensibilities of its era, with tree-lined fairways and greens that incorporate moderate contouring. The property's natural elevation changes create variety in the shotmaking required, and several holes play across or along the property's wooded corridors. Water features appear on a handful of holes, adding strategic interest without dominating the design. The course serves both resort guests and outside play, maintaining accessibility for a range of skill levels while offering enough length and challenge for accomplished players.
Byrncliff operates as part of a broader resort and conference facility, which includes lodging, meeting spaces, and dining amenities. The setting provides a rural retreat atmosphere, with views across the surrounding countryside that emphasize the agricultural character of this part of New York State. The course benefits from relative seclusion despite its proximity to Buffalo and Rochester, making it a functional option for corporate outings, regional tournaments, and weekend golf within the western New York golf market.
