BUFFALO RIDGE SPRINGS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Hollister, MO, USA
Designed by Tom Fazio
Buffalo Ridge Springs, carved from the Ozark Mountains near Branson, Missouri, offers a visual spectacle alongside its challenging layout. Its history is inextricably linked to the vision of Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops, who sought to create a premier golf destination that celebrates the natural beauty of the region.
Originally designed by Tom Fazio, and later enhanced by the touch of Johnny Morris, Buffalo Ridge blends seamlessly into the rugged terrain. Wide fairways wind through dramatic elevation changes, while strategically placed bunkers and water hazards demand thoughtful shot-making, not brute force. This isn't a course that punishes aggression outright, but rewards strategic play and thoughtful club selection amidst the sprawling landscape. The Ozark terrain and vegetation makes for a colorful backdrop for the game.
While Buffalo Ridge Springs has yet to host a major professional championship, it has become a popular stop for amateur events and showcases the commitment to growing the game in the heartland. Buffalo Ridge Springs has also hosted The Legends of Golf showcasing the beautiful landscapes in the area.
Buffalo Ridge Springs stands as a testament to both architectural vision and the desire to share the unique character of the Ozarks. The club is known for its welcoming atmosphere and ties to the broader outdoor lifestyle championed by its founder, an environment that fosters a love for both the game and the surrounding natural world, and it is quickly becoming a very popular golf destination in the Midwest.
Reviews
Played in August 25, great layout, conditions were ok, with some time course will be fantastic
The best course on the Big Cedar Property! So underrated and so scenic with a really good routing. Wish it was walkable but I’ll take it.
Very solid layout, greens are not great. If greens were good it would be in the mid 8.0’s
Loved this golf course. Course was in amazing shape. Most shots were downhill which made it easier to know where to hit the ball all the time. Also so many waterfalls in and around the course. Some how they were able to keep most tee boxes high and fairways low. The views here are spectacular and the course in general is pristine. There is a full range with smaller practice facility here and a large putting green. The carts were fast. I loved all the small details around the property. Waterfalls in and around every part of the course. Beautiful bridges and fun signs that tell you about specific holes. I know they just re did all the greens and the some of the bunkers which would make the experience all that much better. Excited to get back out here at some point!
