Brunel at Woodspring Golf and Country Club

The Brunel course at Woodspring Golf and Country Club sits in the rolling Somerset countryside near Long Ashton, just southwest of Bristol. Designed by the team of Donald Steel, Peter Alliss, and Clive Clark, the layout reflects the collaborative approach these architects brought to several British courses during the late twentieth century. Steel, known for his work on traditional parkland and links designs across the UK, partnered with Alliss—the renowned broadcaster and course designer—and Clark to create a course that works with the natural contours of the region.

The course occupies gently undulating terrain typical of the Somerset landscape, with mature trees framing many holes and views extending across the surrounding countryside. The routing takes advantage of elevation changes that add strategic interest without requiring excessive walking.
