BRIDGES OF POPLAR CREEK COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Hoffman Estates, IL, USA
Designed by Ken Killiaick Nugent

Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club sits in Hoffman Estates, a northwest suburb of Chicago, and was designed by Ken Killian and Dick Nugent, two architects with deep roots in Illinois golf course design. The course opened in the early 1990s as part of a residential development and takes its name from the multiple water crossings that define the routing. The property occupies relatively flat terrain typical of the Chicago suburbs, with Poplar Creek and its tributaries winding through the layout and coming into play on numerous holes.
The design makes strategic use of water hazards, wetlands, and mature trees to create variety and challenge across the eighteen holes. Several holes require carries over creek channels or approach shots to greens protected by water, demanding accuracy from players at different skill levels. The bunkering and green complexes reflect the design sensibilities of the era, with moderate undulation and clear visual lines from tee to green.
The club operates as a private facility serving the northwest suburban Chicago community. It offers traditional country club amenities including dining and social programs alongside its golf course. The setting provides a parkland experience within a developed suburban context, with homes lining some fairways and natural corridors preserved along the creek system. The course serves as a year-round recreational and social hub for its membership, typical of established country clubs in the Chicago metropolitan area.
Reviews
I think would be higher if played during the peak season and not mid October. Still a great track with some challenging holes. 1 and 2 are probably the hardest starting holes I’ve played. Great set of par 3s and some long par 5s. Going to need to revisit
