Brandermill at Brandermill Country Club

Brandermill Country Club sits in Midlothian, Virginia, roughly fifteen miles southwest of Richmond, within the planned community of Brandermill that developed around Swift Creek Reservoir in the 1970s. Gary Player designed the course, which opened in 1976 as part of the residential development's amenities. The layout represents Player's work during a period when he was actively designing courses in the United States while still competing on tour.

The course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of Virginia's Piedmont region, with elevation changes and mature hardwood corridors framing many holes. Water from Swift Creek Reservoir and associated ponds comes into play on several holes, particularly on the back nine where the routing approaches the shoreline. The design incorporates Player's preference for strategic bunkering and greens that reward accurate approach shots, though the course has seen modifications over the decades to accommodate modern maintenance practices and playing preferences.

Brandermill operates as a private country club serving the residential community and surrounding area. The club includes traditional amenities beyond golf—tennis facilities, swimming, and dining—that support an active membership base. The course hosts regional amateur competitions and club championships throughout the season. The setting within a planned community gives the club a neighborhood character, with homes visible along several fairways, typical of residential golf developments from that era in suburban Virginia.
