BOBBY JONES GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Atlanta, GA, USA
Designed by John Van Kleek
Bobby Jones Golf Course, a testament to adaptive reuse, occupies ground once deemed unsuitable for anything but a floodplain. Carved into the heart of Atlanta, and named for the city's native son, the course is unlike any other. Its unique reversible layout, re-imagined by Bob Cupp and associates, offers a refreshing take on the game and on a plot of land that seemed destined to remain unplayable.
The routing navigates the low-lying terrain with surprising variety. Its reversible configuration presents a strategic puzzle that changes day to day. While not exceedingly long, the layout favors thoughtful shot placement over sheer power, rewarding players who can manage the course's subtle undulations and protect themselves from the hazards scattered throughout the landscape.
While Bobby Jones has not hosted major professional championships, it remains a vital hub for Atlanta's golfing community. As a municipal course, it stands apart for offering a thoughtful challenge at an affordable rate. A true reflection of Jones's commitment to the spirit of the game, it welcomes players of all abilities to experience golf in a way that is accessible and engaging.
Reviews
Nice course, not too fun to play
Cool reversible 9-hole course in Atlanta. Fun layout, easy walk, and generally good conditions considering the amount of play it gets.
Cool place. Reversable nine and great place to hang out. Lots of others should learn from it.
