HAMILTON ELKS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Hamilton, OH, USA
Designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan

Hamilton Elks Golf Club, cradled in Liberty Township, stands as a testament to accessible golf, a place where the spirit of the game thrives outside the spotlight of championship play. Carved from the rolling Ohio landscape, the Blue/Red course offers a classic, unpretentious golfing experience. While not a household name, its strength lies in its enduring appeal to the local community.
The architectural lineage of Blue/Red remains somewhat obscure, hinting at a more functional than fashionable design, possibly dating back to the mid-20th century. The terrain favors strategic play over raw power, with modest elevation changes and tree-lined fairways placing a premium on shot placement. Locals joke that mastering the subtle breaks on the greens is the true key to unlocking the course's secrets, a skill honed through countless rounds.
Beyond the course, Hamilton Elks is perhaps best known for its welcoming atmosphere. It's a club where camaraderie flourishes, reflected in the lively chatter often emanating from the 19th hole. Here, stories of near-misses and improbable putts are shared, cementing the club's place as a social hub as much as a golfing venue.
Reviews
Hamilton Elks is my dad’s club, and honestly, it’s such a solid value spot. It’s a no-frills kind of place — simple clubhouse, relaxed vibe — but that’s part of what makes it great. The practice facilities are nice and easy to use before the round, and with 27 holes, you can mix up the routing each time you play, which keeps it fresh. The course itself is pretty straightforward, but the Donald Ross design really shows up around the greens. They’re always in great shape and roll fast and true — classic Ross style with subtle breaks that can sneak up on you. It’s just a fun, comfortable place to play and one that always feels like home when I’m back.
