Blackmoor/High at Moor Allerton Golf Club

Moor Allerton Golf Club sits in the northern suburbs of Leeds, occupying elevated moorland terrain that gives the club its name and character. The property features two eighteen-hole courses, with the Blackmoor/High combination representing a composite layout drawn from the club's original Blackmoor and High Moor courses. Robert Trent Jones redesigned the courses in the 1960s, bringing his characteristic American design principles to this traditional Yorkshire setting.

The routing moves across gently rolling moorland with stands of mature trees framing many holes. Jones introduced his signature features to the layout: strategically placed bunkers, water hazards on several holes, and greens with pronounced undulation and surrounding mounding. The exposed moorland setting means wind is often a factor in club selection and strategy. The terrain provides natural elevation changes that add variety to the holes, with some playing uphill to elevated greens and others offering downhill tee shots.

Moor Allerton has hosted regional amateur competitions and serves as a well-regarded members' club in the Leeds area. The club maintains both courses for year-round play, though the moorland turf and drainage allow for relatively firm conditions even in the wetter months typical of northern England. The clubhouse overlooks the courses and provides traditional club amenities.
