BEVERLY COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Chicago, IL, USA
Designed by Donald Ross, Tom Bendelow
Beverly Country Club stands as a testament to enduring Chicago golf, its fairways whispering tales from the city's gilded age. Located in the historic Beverly neighborhood on Chicago's South Side, this classic parkland course unfurls across gently rolling terrain, a welcome respite from the urban sprawl. The mature trees, predominantly oak and maple, frame each hole, demanding strategic shot-making and rewarding those who can shape their approaches into the subtly contoured greens. A characteristic of the course are its blind shots.
Designed by Herbert J. Tweedie in 1908, Beverly has seen subtle enhancements over the years that have stayed true to Tweedie’s original vision. While not a stage for major championships, Beverly holds a distinguished place within the Illinois golf scene, cherished by its members for its unwavering commitment to the traditions of the game.
Beyond the golf, Beverly Country Club offers a distinctly Chicago experience. The membership is known for its unpretentious camaraderie, fueled by a shared love of the game and a fondness for classic Midwestern fare.
Reviews
Absolutely fantastic. Most fun golf course I’ve ever played. Awesome layout, great atmosphere, great conditions. A little bit longer and it would be a championship course.
It may be in the worst part of Chicago, but an amazing Donald Ross layout. Post renovation it really shows off, lots of fun but not easy. Could play here everyday, awesome caddie program.
A Donald Ross classic. Hard to believe you are playing golf on a beautiful course in the heart of the south side of Chicago. This course is a tale of two nines. The front nine is on one side of 87th street and features a prominent glacial ridge that runs through the middle of several holes creating significant elevation changes. The second nine has some big par 4/5s with some crazy Ross green complexes. Greens are insanely fast with lots of undulation. Lots of history here, well worth it if you get the invite
