BELLINGHAM GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Bellingham, WA, USA
Designed by John Ball

Bellingham Golf & Country Club sits in the northwestern corner of Washington State, where the city of Bellingham overlooks Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands. The course was designed by John Ball, a Pacific Northwest architect who worked on several layouts in Washington and British Columbia during the early-to-mid twentieth century. The club reflects the region's tradition of community-centered golf facilities that serve local membership while maintaining a connection to the area's natural landscape.
The routing takes advantage of the terrain characteristic of the Puget Sound lowlands, with mature tree-lined fairways and elevation changes that provide variety throughout the round. The property features Douglas fir and cedar common to western Washington, and the design incorporates these natural elements into the playing corridors. Holes move through rolling terrain that requires thoughtful club selection and course management, particularly where elevation shifts affect approach shots.
The club has served as a gathering place for Bellingham's golf community for decades, hosting regional amateur competitions and maintaining traditions typical of established Pacific Northwest country clubs. The setting offers views toward the surrounding landscape, including glimpses of the water and mountains that define this corner of Washington. The club's location near the Canadian border places it within a corridor of historic golf courses that developed as the game spread through the region in the early twentieth century.
Reviews
Played a college tournament here and loved it. Layout was awesome, course was in pristine shape, greens were fast and undulated. First time I ever played in the PNW, very tall trees, thick rough, a true test of golf.
