LEGENDS ON THE NIAGARA GOLF CLUB
🇨🇦 Niagara Falls, Ontario, CA
Designed by Douglas Carrick

The Battlefield course at Legends on the Niagara Golf Club opened in 2001 as the second of two championship layouts at this facility near Niagara Falls. Douglas Carrick designed the course on land that was part of the historic Niagara campaign during the War of 1812, with the routing incorporating terrain where actual military engagements took place. The property sits on the Niagara Escarpment, providing elevation changes and views toward the Niagara River gorge and surrounding countryside.
Carrick's design emphasizes strategic variety and playability across different skill levels while taking advantage of the natural topography. The routing moves through rolling terrain with mature trees, wetlands, and open meadow areas. Several holes feature significant elevation change, particularly where the course engages with the escarpment's natural contours. Water hazards appear on multiple holes, and the bunkering style reflects a modern strategic approach with features positioned to challenge specific landing areas and approach angles.
The Battlefield course shares the Legends facility with the older Ussher's Creek course, also designed by Carrick. Together they form a 36-hole public facility that serves both daily-fee players and tournament events in the Niagara region. The courses benefit from their proximity to Niagara Falls tourism infrastructure while maintaining a parkland character distinct from the urban surroundings. The clubhouse and practice facilities serve both layouts, making Legends on the Niagara one of southern Ontario's more prominent multi-course public golf destinations.
