BASKING RIDGE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Basking Ridge, NJ, USA
Designed by Alex Findlay

Basking Ridge Country Club presents a modern interpretation of classic golf amidst the rolling hills of Somerset County. This 2001 design, sculpted by Steve Smyers and Craig Yates, moves across a pastoral landscape that offers both generous fairways and subtly contoured greens, favoring players who can shape the ball off the tee and approach with creativity. A traditional layout without a traditional feel.
While Basking Ridge has yet to host a major championship, its commitment to club tournaments and member events fosters a vibrant competitive spirit. The club distinguishes itself with a family-friendly environment, which is more casual than rigid and formal. Many of its members are active or retired law enforcement or first responders, making the club a particularly cohesive and friendly community.
Known for its unpretentious atmosphere and consistently well-maintained conditions, Basking Ridge offers an enjoyable test of golf that balances challenge and playability. A popular spot after a round is the club's bar, where tales of near misses and clutch putts mingle with the laughter of its members.
Reviews
Basking Ridge is a super narrow course with very iffy conditions. A ton of trees so greens are all different speeds, likely has to do with how much sun they get. It is right next to the Great Swamp, so course does not drain well. Layout is very boring, green complexes are uninteresting, until the 18th.
