BAITING HOLLOW CLUB
🇺🇸 Baiting Hollow, NY, USA
Designed by Dana Fry, Dr. Michael Hurdzan, Robert Trent Jones Sr.

Baiting Hollow Club occupies a distinctive site on the North Fork of Long Island, where the original Robert Trent Jones Sr. design from 1966 was substantially reimagined by Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry in the early 2000s. The renovation transformed what had been a traditional Jones layout into a more modern championship test while preserving elements of the property's rolling terrain and wooded character. The course sits inland from Peconic Bay, with elevation changes uncommon for Long Island golf providing natural drama to the routing.
The Hurdzan-Fry redesign introduced contemporary bunkering, green complexes with more internal contour, and strategic options that reward thoughtful course management. The layout moves through mature stands of oak and pine, with several holes playing across or along natural valleys that create both visual interest and strategic challenge. Water features appear selectively, and the property's natural topography allows for a varied sequence of holes that shift between open and enclosed playing corridors.
Baiting Hollow functions as a private club serving members from the North Fork region and beyond. The course has hosted regional amateur competitions and serves as a year-round facility for its membership. The combination of Jones's original routing bones and the Hurdzan-Fry modernization gives the course a layered design pedigree, blending mid-century strategic principles with contemporary green speeds and maintenance practices. The North Fork setting provides a quieter alternative to the Hamptons golf scene while maintaining championship length and challenge.
