BAHIA BEACH RESORT & GOLF CLUB
🇵🇷 Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, PR
Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

Bahia Beach, carved from the coconut palm-lined shores of Río Grande, represents a bold reimagining of Puerto Rican golf. Originally conceived by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the oceanfront course embraces the prevailing eastern trade winds to challenge golfers of every level.
This modern design favors a strategic approach, compelling players to carefully consider club selection and shot trajectory to navigate the generous fairways and subtly undulating greens. The occasional need to shape shots around strategically placed bunkers or account for the wind adds a layer of complexity and enjoyment for the experienced golfer.
While Bahia Beach hasn't hosted major championships, its commitment to providing an exceptional golf experience is a draw for locals and resort guests alike. The post-round scene often centers around the clubhouse veranda, where the celebrated piña coladas are a perfect ending to a day on the links.
Reviews
Bahia Beach was the hidden gem of the trip for me. Totally different vibe from the other courses we played — super tight, really well-maintained, and you feel like you’re tucked into a rainforest the entire round. It’s a legit resort course but honestly plays way better than most “resort” tracks. The layout is fun from the start, but that closing 3-hole stretch is what really sticks with you. Just a great mix of scenery, strategy, and that “damn, I want to play this again” feeling. Conditions were dialed in across the board, and it felt like everything was taken care of at a higher level. The amenities on property are awesome, too. It’s one of those places where the golf is good, but the overall experience — the atmosphere, the service, the setting — elevates it even more. This is definitely a course I’d go out of my way to play again. One of the better surprises in Puerto Rico for sure.
Best conditioned course in PR at least when I played it. Nice layout, one particularly nice hole (16 I think) that runs along the ocean. One of the few courses in Puerto Rico that actually has sand in the bunkers.
