Avon/Brunel at Woodspring Golf and Country Club

Woodspring Golf and Country Club sits in the rolling countryside near Long Ashton, just southwest of Bristol in Somerset. The facility features two eighteen-hole courses—Avon and Brunel—designed by the team of Donald Steel, Peter Alliss, and Clive Clark. Steel, a respected British golf course architect and writer, collaborated with Alliss, the celebrated former Ryder Cup player and broadcaster, and Clark, a touring professional turned designer, to create layouts that take advantage of the natural terrain in this part of the West Country.

The courses occupy parkland that transitions between open farmland and more wooded sections, typical of the Somerset landscape. The routing incorporates gentle elevation changes and mature trees that frame fairways and define playing corridors. Water features come into play on several holes across both courses, adding strategic variety to the shot-making demands.
