ATLANTIC COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Plymouth, MA, USA
Designed by Brian Silva, Geoffrey Cornish
Atlantic Country Club occupies a coastal setting in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where Geoffrey Cornish originally designed the course in 1963. Brian Silva later renovated the layout, refining the routing and updating features to meet contemporary standards while respecting Cornish's strategic framework. The course sits on rolling terrain characteristic of southeastern Massachusetts, with elevation changes that provide variety and natural drainage across the property.
The design reflects Cornish's practical approach to New England golf architecture, emphasizing playability and strategic options rather than penal hazards. Fairways move through stands of native vegetation and over undulating ground, with green complexes that reward accurate approach play. Silva's renovation work focused on restoring definition to bunkers and green surrounds, enhancing the clarity of playing angles that Cornish established in the original routing.
The club serves a local membership drawn from the Plymouth area and surrounding South Shore communities. Its location near historic Plymouth and within reach of Cape Cod places it in a region with deep golf tradition, though Atlantic maintains a quieter profile than some of its better-known neighbors. The course provides a straightforward test of golf suited to regular play, with enough character in its land and design lineage to engage members familiar with classic New England layouts.
Reviews
Solid course, good value, underrated
I hadn’t played here in over 5 years, and it used to be known as the Groupon course, the place was littered with newbies that backed up the round and slowed it down to a snails pace. No shame in that, but it was a place to avoid on the weekends and if you know Plymouth this is way off the beaten path so another drawback. All that being said, I had an enjoyable day there, solid greens slow but true, it’s a fun layout, you won’t get bored, and it’s in decent shape. Good range, putting green, unfortunately not much to offer on food, but if you’re bored of other tracks or can’t get a Pinehills tee time then check out Atlantic.
