The Astoria course at Golf & SPA resort Cihelny occupies rolling terrain in the Karlovy Vary region of western Bohemia, near the spa town of Bečov nad Teplou. Designed by Gary Player, the layout reflects the South African architect's characteristic approach to European sites, working with natural elevation changes and integrating the course into the forested landscape typical of this part of the Czech Republic. The region's spa heritage and wooded valleys provide a distinctive setting that separates this course from the flatter layouts found elsewhere in the country.

The routing makes use of the property's topography, with holes moving through mixed woodland and open meadow areas. Player's design philosophy typically emphasizes strategic bunkering and green complexes that reward accurate approach play, and the Astoria course follows this template while adapting to the Czech landscape.
