ARONIMINK GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Newtown, PA, USA
Designed by Donald Ross, Gil Hanse, Ron Prichard

Aronimink, a crucible for legends, represents a timeless test where fortitude, not just finesse, separates champions. Nestled in the rolling hills of Newtown Square, its classic parkland design, conceived during golf's Golden Age, winds through mature hardwoods and over naturally undulating terrain. The routing favors strategic shot-making and penalizes errant play, demanding accuracy to avoid its demanding rough and deceptively contoured greens. One might find the golfer who likes to play a fade off the tee box more suited to the course than the golfer who plays a draw.
Originally crafted by Donald Ross, Aronimink has undergone thoughtful restorations that honor its initial vision while subtly enhancing its challenge for the modern game. It's a course where Ross's genius is evident in the placement of bunkers and the natural flow of the holes. Members often regale guests with stories of Ross himself walking the property, visualizing his masterpiece.
Aronimink’s pedigree is etched in championship lore, having challenged the world’s best in the 1962 PGA Championship, the 2003 U.S. Junior Amateur, the 2010 and 2011 AT&T National, and the 2018 BMW Championship. While not always in the national spotlight, it remains a course revered by purists for its historical significance and unwavering commitment to the principles of classic golf course architecture.
Beyond the course, Aronimink fosters a community steeped in tradition, where the claret jug is frequently toasted and the echoes of past champions resonate. It is a club where the traditions of the game are cherished, where the spirit of competition lives on, and where members consider it a privilege to walk the same fairways as golf’s greatest names.
Reviews
Great staff, great showers. The best food and drinks I’ve had at a course. The best luxury country club feel of a course. Very challenging course. Greens are shockingly fast.
I'm not a condition whore, but if I were, this place would be the greatest of all time. Not a blade of grass out of place on the entire property. Difficult championship test but definitely some fun in there. I love the lack of a first cut of rough. You are in the fairway or dead. I feel like the people that invented Scott's turf builder must be members here. Great Ross.
Aronimink GC is one of Donald Ross’ best in PA. Big, bold scale that Gil Hanse brought back a few years ago during a restoration. If you’re a Ross fan, Aronimink is a must see. It also hosts the PGA Championship next year (2026).
