APPLEWOOD GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Keysville, GA, USA
Designed by Chuck Baer

Applewood, a fixture of the Central Savannah River Area's golfing landscape, began its life as a modest nine-hole layout, reflecting the burgeoning interest in the game during the latter half of the 20th century. The original design meandered across the gently rolling terrain characteristic of this part of Georgia.
Subsequent expansion to 18 holes transformed Applewood into a more complete test. While not considered an architectural masterpiece, the course presents a fair challenge for players of all abilities. Its defining feature is the reliance on accuracy; tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers penalize wayward shots. The emphasis is on keeping the ball in play, rather than overpowering the course.
Applewood is a place where the community gathers, a testament to the social fabric woven around the game. Local leagues thrive, and weekend rounds are a cherished tradition. The clubhouse, though unpretentious, is known for its Southern hospitality and post-round camaraderie, often lingering around the barbeque grill as the sun sets, the air thick with the aroma of smoked meats.
Reviews
Conditions were horrible and pace of play was even worse. Boring design (only got to play front 9 due to slow pace)
