BLACKLEDGE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Hebron, CT, USA
Designed by Geoffrey Cornish
Andersons Glen is one of two eighteen-hole courses at Blackledge Country Club, a public facility operated by the town of Hebron in central Connecticut. Designed by Geoffrey Cornish and opened in 1998, the course represents the work of one of New England's most prolific golf architects during the later phase of his career. Cornish, who practiced from Massachusetts for more than five decades, designed or redesigned hundreds of courses throughout the Northeast, bringing a practical, strategic approach rooted in classic design principles.
The course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of eastern Connecticut's glacially shaped landscape, with elevation changes and wooded corridors defining many holes. The routing takes advantage of natural contours and incorporates wetlands and streams that come into play on several holes. Cornish's design emphasizes playability for a range of skill levels while requiring thoughtful course management, particularly on approach shots to greens that feature subtle but meaningful contours.
As a municipal facility, Blackledge serves a broad golfing public and has developed a reputation for conditioning and accessibility. Andersons Glen complements the property's other course, Gilead Highlands, giving the facility considerable variety. The setting offers a wooded, semi-rural character despite the course's proximity to Hartford and the Connecticut River Valley, with mature trees and natural areas framing most holes. The course provides a representative example of public golf development in New England during the 1990s expansion period.
Reviews
This is definitely the preferred option vs. other course on property. Good value with full practice facilities and solid restaurant on property.
