ALMOUJ GOLF - THE WAVE MUSCAT
🇴🇲 Muscat, Muscat, OM
Designed by Greg Norman

Almouj Golf, commonly known as The Wave Muscat, is an 18-hole championship course designed by Greg Norman and opened in 2009. The layout occupies a coastal site along the Gulf of Oman in the Al Mouj residential and tourism development on the outskirts of Muscat, representing Oman's first integrated golf community and one of the relatively few championship courses in the Arabian Peninsula outside the United Arab Emirates.
Norman's design works with the natural desert terrain and incorporates views of the Hajar Mountains to the south and the Gulf waters to the north. The routing features wide fairways bordered by native scrubland and waste areas, with strategic bunkering and several water features that come into play on multiple holes. The course layout takes advantage of the coastal breezes, which influence club selection and strategy throughout the round. Greens are typically large and undulating, consistent with Norman's design philosophy of rewarding accurate approach shots while offering recovery options for less precise play.
The course serves as the centerpiece of The Wave mixed-use development and functions as a semi-private facility, welcoming both members and visiting golfers. It has hosted professional events on the MENA Golf Tour and serves as a tournament venue for regional amateur competitions. The clubhouse offers dining and practice facilities that cater to both the local golfing community and international visitors exploring golf opportunities in the Gulf region.
