AIRPORT GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Columbus, OH, USA
Designed by Jack Kidwell
Airport Golf Course, situated just beyond the roar of departing flights in Columbus, Ohio, offers a deceivingly tranquil escape from the city's bustle. Carved from gently rolling, open terrain, this unassuming layout provides a surprisingly challenging test of golf.
Designed in the classic parkland style, Airport Golf Course offers wide fairways that belie the subtle contours and strategic bunkering that await the errant shot. It’s a course that favors the player who can work the ball both ways, navigating doglegs that demand strategic placement off the tee rather than brute force. While not nationally renowned, the course has long been a favorite of local players and airport personnel who seek a quick but rewarding round before their next flight.
Beyond the golf, Airport Golf Course boasts a convivial atmosphere, particularly known for its no-frills grill. Here, you'll find some of the best "lunch specials" in Columbus, the perfect way to relax and swap stories after a round, even if the sound of overhead jets reminds you that reality is always waiting.
Reviews
One of the sneaky solid city courses. Low expectations going in will be beat. I’m a sucker for a good brat and watching planes land all day so you can’t beat that. Solid value too.
Absolute proper muni and what I think the game needs more of. It’s not the nicest course or the best routed but I can assure you that you will have a fun day and some cool views. There’s not too much trouble on this course or too much length but I can assure you that no two holes are the same. My favorite view on the course is #1 green. You will see private jets and commercial plans flying over your head so close that you can read the words on the plane. If you are in Columbus and want a cheap muni that will give you some fun shots I highly recommend checking out airport
