PINEHURST RESORT & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Pinehurst, NC, USA
Designed by George Fazio, Tom Fazio

Pinehurst No. 6 occupies sandy, rolling terrain characteristic of the North Carolina Sandhills, sharing the same landscape that hosts the resort's more celebrated layouts. George Fazio designed the course in 1979, with his nephew Tom Fazio contributing to the project early in his career. The routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes and incorporates the property's native pine forests and wiregrass areas, though the course has historically maintained a more traditional parkland character than some of its neighbors.
The design features wide fairways and large, undulating greens typical of George Fazio's work, emphasizing strategic options rather than severe penalties. Water comes into play on several holes, and the bunkering provides both visual definition and tactical interest without overwhelming the layout. The course stretches over 7,000 yards from the back tees, offering length alongside the need for accurate approach play to greens with significant internal contour.
As part of the Pinehurst Resort, No. 6 serves both resort guests and members, providing a solid complement to the property's championship venues. The course underwent renovation work in 2005 under Tom Fazio's direction, which refined green complexes and updated conditioning standards. While it does not host major professional tournaments like Pinehurst No. 2, the course remains a popular choice within the resort's rotation, offering a less demanding but still engaging test of golf in the Sandhills setting.
Reviews
Some really nice par 3s. Rather basic layout
