MEDINAH COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Medinah, IL, USA
Designed by Rees Jones, Tom Bendelow
Medinah Country Club's famed Course #3 stands as a testament to championship golf, a battlefield where legends have been forged in the crucible of major competition. The parkland layout, carved from the rolling landscape west of Chicago, presents a classic test with mature trees lining generous fairways. While the course avoids overly penal rough, its undulating greens and strategically placed bunkers demand a thoughtful approach, subtly favoring a power fade.
Originally designed by Tom Bendelow, Course #3 underwent significant enhancements under the watchful eye of Rees Jones, solidifying its reputation for strategic complexity and playability. The course’s pedigree is undeniable, having hosted multiple U.S. Opens, PGA Championships, and Ryder Cups, each event adding another layer to the course's rich tapestry of golfing history. Medinah remains a proving ground for the game's elite.
Medinah embodies a distinctly Midwestern character, known for its inclusive membership drawn from a diverse range of backgrounds and vocations. It is a place where the traditions of the game are deeply respected, yet where progress and innovation are welcomed. A particular point of pride among members is the club's unwavering commitment to caddie programs, fostering the next generation of golfers and stewards of the game. It is here at Medinah, where the spirit of the sport finds its home, and where legacies are perpetually written with each swing.
Reviews
Played a few times. One of the best country clubs and golf courses in the country.
Played pre-renovation. Course was tough parkland course. Tight, trees, rough, length, water etc. Par 3s were a bit repetitive which has since been changed. Holes 7-11 all felt the same.
