COG HILL GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Lemont, IL, USA
Designed by Dick Wilson, Joe Lee

Cog Hill's Dubsdread course, a Chicago-area titan, earned its formidable reputation from the moment players first faced its demanding layout. Hole #3, a seemingly straightforward par-4, often proves to be a rude awakening on a course known for its unrelenting challenge.
Originally crafted by Dick Wilson during the mid-century era, #3 reveals Dubsdread’s parkland character immediately: towering trees, strategically placed bunkers, and subtle undulations define the hole. The tee shot favors a controlled fade, placing the golfer in the optimal position to attack a green well-protected by deep bunkers. Those who stray too far left find themselves in a thicket, while a pushed drive leaves a difficult approach from the rough.
Dubsdread etched its name into golfing history during its multiple stints hosting the Western Open and, later, the BMW Championship. Hole #3, while not the flashiest, demands respect and sets the tone for the challenging round ahead. It is a testament to Dubsdread's unrelenting nature: a course where par is always a good score, and where even the most seasoned players can find themselves humbled.
