GULLANE GOLF CLUB
🏴 Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland
Designed by Willie Park Jr.

Gullane Golf Club's Course No. 2 occupies the same historic golfing ground in East Lothian as its more celebrated sibling, Course No. 1, and shares the dramatic landscape that has made this stretch of Scottish coastline a pilgrimage site for golfers. Willie Park Jr., the two-time Open Championship winner who became one of the early 20th century's most influential golf architects, designed Course No. 2 in the early 1900s. Park's work here demonstrates his understanding of strategic design and his ability to route holes across varied terrain that moves from elevated positions down toward lower ground.
The course plays across rolling duneland with views extending over the Firth of Forth to Fife. The routing takes advantage of natural contours and the prevailing winds that sweep across this exposed landscape. While Course No. 2 sits slightly inland compared to the club's seaside No. 1, it retains the firm turf and rumpled character typical of East Lothian golf. The design asks players to navigate thoughtful angles and consider ground game options rather than relying purely on aerial approaches.
Gullane Golf Club itself has deep roots in Scottish golf history, and the village of Gullane has long been a center of the game's development in Scotland. Course No. 2 serves both members and visitors as a complement to the championship layout, offering a genuine links test that reflects Willie Park Jr.'s design principles without the intense difficulty of the club's premier course.
Reviews
Hilly! Trudging up the 2nd and 3rd holes is not easy, but the views from the top are incredible. While it doesnt have the pedigree of course 1, there are still several great holes with scenic vistas down to the firth
