Club de golf Lachute is located in Lachute, Quebec, a town in the Laurentian region northwest of Montreal. The course was designed by Howard Watson, a Canadian architect active in the mid-twentieth century who designed and renovated several courses across Quebec and Ontario during that period. Watson's work typically emphasized strategic routing that worked with existing terrain rather than extensive earthmoving.
The Lachute area sits in rolling countryside near the foothills of the Laurentians, and courses in this region generally feature natural elevation changes and mature tree-lined fairways. The layout likely takes advantage of the local topography to create variety in hole character and shot values. Regional courses from this era often incorporated natural water features and used the native hardwood forests to define playing corridors.
Club de golf Lachute serves the local golfing community in the Laurentian corridor, an area with a long tradition of golf dating back to the early twentieth century when Montreal-area residents established summer retreats and sporting clubs in the region. The course provides a home for competitive play and social golf in a town that has maintained its connection to the game for generations.
Reviews
This is their “second” course designed by Stanley Thompson’s protege. Nice track - a few story holes but fun to play. Drive well and you will score well. Sand was unplayable but likely due to all the rain they had. Will play again.
