PAA-KO RIDGE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Sandia Park, NM, USA
Designed by Ken Dye

Paa-Ko Ridge, carved into the high desert east of Albuquerque, stands as a testament to audacity – a 27-hole layout that dares to challenge both golfer and gravity. The Baxter Spann design, refined by Ken Dye, unfurls across dramatic ridgelines and plunging canyons, demanding strategic acumen over brute force.
The sprawling course, sculpted in the late modern era, presents a constant negotiation with the landscape. Wide fairways often belie the trouble lurking on either side, where native grasses and arroyos punish errant shots. Length is certainly an advantage, but the premium lies in calculating the wind's fickle influence and mastering the undulating greens, which can confound even the most seasoned putters. The altitude plays its part too, adding an extra club or two to your calculations.
Paa-Ko Ridge offers a raw, unvarnished golfing experience, where the challenge is as much about conquering the course as it is about appreciating the panoramic vistas of the surrounding Sandia Mountains. While not a championship venue steeped in tournament lore, Paa-Ko's appeal rests in its sheer scale and the demanding test it presents to every level of golfer.
