Seymour Dunn was a Scottish professional golfer, course designer, and author active during the early-to-mid twentieth century. Born in 1882, Dunn combined his playing experience with a prolific design practice that left a significant footprint across the northeastern United States and beyond.
His portfolio includes numerous courses in upstate New York, where he shaped layouts suited to the Adirondack and Finger Lakes regions. Notable among these are Craig Wood and Saranac Inn in the Lake Placid area, Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, and Tuscarora in Marcellus. He also designed Cazenovia Park in Buffalo and The Lake course at Chautauqua Golf Club. His work extended to Mississippi with Duncan Park in Natchez and Laurel Country Club, and internationally to Belgium, where he designed the Arboretum course at Royal Golf Club of Belgium and Royal Ostend.
Dunn's designs reflect the era's emphasis on strategic routing and natural terrain integration, and his courses remain valued for their playability and historical character.
