Ralph Plummer established himself as one of Texas's most prolific golf course architects during the mid-to-late 20th century, with a portfolio concentrated primarily across the Lone Star State. His work spans from exclusive private clubs to accessible municipal facilities, demonstrating versatility across different project scales and budgets.
Among his most highly regarded designs are Preston Trail Golf Club in Dallas and Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth, both of which exemplify his approach to championship-caliber private club golf. His collaboration at Champions Golf Club in Houston resulted in the Cypress Creek course, while other notable Texas projects include Midland Country Club and the more recent Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton. Beyond private clubs, Plummer designed numerous public-access courses including layouts at Pecan Valley Municipal in Fort Worth and the Glen course at Tenison Park in Dallas.
