Larry Packard built a prolific career designing courses across the American Midwest and Southeast, with a portfolio spanning municipal layouts, resort destinations, and private clubs. His best-known work is the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida, a design that has hosted PGA Tour events and is often named among the most admired courses in the region. Beyond Copperhead, Packard created three additional courses at Innisbrook—Island, South, and North—demonstrating his ability to craft varied experiences on a single property.
His geographic footprint is particularly strong in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Kentucky. Notable designs include Big Spring Country Club and Midland Trail Golf Club in Louisville, Platteview Country Club in Bellevue, Nebraska, and the Ridge Course at Echo Valley Country Club in Iowa. Packard also contributed Ackerman Hills at Birck Boilermaker Golf Club in West Lafayette, Indiana, and The Highlands of Elgin in Illinois. His work extended to public facilities, including Peninsula State Park Golf Course in Wisconsin and the East/West complex at Rend Lake in Illinois.
