Jay Morrish

Jay Morrish (c. 1936–2015) was an American golf course architect whose work spanned from the 1970s through the 2000s. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Landscape and Nursery Management and briefly taught horticulture there while pursuing graduate studies. His background in landscape management informed a design philosophy that emphasized natural terrain and strategic variety.

Morrish's portfolio includes highly regarded courses across the United States and abroad. Loch Lomond in Scotland and Shoal Creek in Alabama are often named among the most admired courses in the world. His American work includes Double Eagle in Ohio, Stone Canyon in Arizona, and the Canyon course at Forest Highlands in Flagstaff. He collaborated frequently with Tom Weiskopf on projects including Troon North's Monument course, The Boulders in Carefree, and TPC Scottsdale's Stadium course, host of the PGA Tour's Waste Management Phoenix Open.

His designs are noted for integrating bold landforms with playable strategy, particularly in the American Southwest where his understanding of desert landscapes produced memorable courses.
