J.F. Abercromby

J.F. Abercromby was a British golf course architect active in the early twentieth century, working primarily across southern England and Wales. His portfolio demonstrates a focus on heathland and parkland sites in the Home Counties, with designs that reflect the naturalistic style characteristic of the era's Golden Age architects.

His best-known work includes The Addington in Surrey, a heathland course that has maintained a reputation for strategic design and memorable holes. Other notable layouts include Worplesdon near Woking, Coombe Hill in Kingston-upon-Thames, and courses at Knole Park, West Kent, and Mill Hill around greater London. He also designed Rhondda Golf Club in Wales, extending his influence beyond the London basin.
