Howard Watson was a prolific golf course architect whose work focused primarily on Eastern Canada, particularly Ontario and Québec, during the mid-to-late twentieth century. His portfolio includes dozens of courses across the region, ranging from municipal facilities to private clubs, demonstrating versatility in designing for varied terrain and budgets.

Among Watson's notable designs are Cherry Downs Golf Club in Pickering, Ontario, and Scarlett Woods Golf Course in Toronto. In Québec, his work spans the province from Golf Chicoutimi in the north to courses like Golf Château Bromont in the Eastern Townships and Golf Champlain near Ottawa. Watson also contributed to several layouts at facilities including Golf Islesmere (with multiple course configurations) and Club de golf Terrebonne. His reach extended beyond Canada to select American projects, including Aroostook Valley Country Club in Maine and Pembroke Lakes Golf and Racquet Club in Florida.
