Herbert Fowler was an English golf course architect active in the early twentieth century, responsible for several highly regarded courses across Britain and beyond. His portfolio demonstrates a particular strength in heathland design, where he crafted layouts that remain admired for their strategic interest and natural integration with the landscape.
Among his most celebrated works are the Old and New courses at Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey, both of which have hosted numerous professional championships and continue to rank among England's finest inland courses. His two layouts at The Berkshire Golf Club—the Red and Blue courses—similarly exemplify his skill with heathland terrain and are frequently cited among the country's top designs. Other notable Fowler courses include Beau Desert, West Surrey, and Southerndown.
