Hal Purdy

Hal Purdy established a prolific design practice concentrated primarily in the northeastern United States, with particular depth across New Jersey and New York. His portfolio spans more than 50 courses ranging from private clubs to accessible daily-fee facilities and municipal layouts, reflecting a versatility that served diverse golfing communities throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

Among his notable private club works are the South Course at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, New Jersey, Skaneateles Country Club in upstate New York, and Roxiticus Golf Club in Mendham, New Jersey. Purdy also designed both the Meadow and River courses at Fiddlers Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, demonstrating his ability to craft multiple distinct routings on a single property. His public-access designs include Rutgers University Golf Club and the layouts at Flanders Valley Golf Club, courses that brought quality golf architecture to broader audiences.
