Gilbert England was a golf course architect who focused his work primarily in Kentucky and southern Indiana during the mid-20th century. Though relatively little documented about his career, his portfolio demonstrates a commitment to accessible public and university golf in the region.
His most notable work includes the University of Louisville course in Simpsonville, Kentucky, which has served generations of collegiate golfers. England also designed Cardinal Hills in Bedford, Clear Creek in Shelbyville, and Dix River Country Club in Stanford—all in Kentucky—as well as Westwood Golf Course across the state line in Scottsburg, Indiana.
