Donald Ray Sechrest (1933–2006) was an American golf course architect who designed more than 90 courses, with the majority concentrated across the Midwest. His portfolio reflects a particular expertise in heartland states, creating layouts tailored to the regional landscapes of Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa, Arkansas, and Texas.
Among Sechrest's credited work are Southwind Country Club in Garden City, Kansas, and Terradyne Country Club in Andover, Kansas. He designed three courses at Shangri-La Country Club on Monkey Island, Oklahoma—Heritage, Legends, and Champions—demonstrating his ability to deliver multiple distinct layouts within a single resort property. Other representative designs include Stillwater Country Club in Oklahoma, Adams Point Golf Club in Blue Springs, Missouri, and Ames Golf & Country Club in Iowa. His portfolio spans both private club environments and public facilities, including municipal courses like Heritage Park in Olathe, Kansas, and the Sechrest Course at Mozingo Lake in Missouri.
Sechrest's body of work established him as a significant regional designer whose courses continue to serve golfers throughout the central United States.
