Curtis Strange

Curtis Northrup Strange (born January 30, 1955) is an American professional golfer and television commentator who achieved his greatest success as a player by winning back-to-back U.S. Open championships in 1988 and 1989. A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, Strange spent over 200 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Following his playing career, Strange transitioned into course design work, with a portfolio concentrated primarily in his home state of Virginia and select international projects. His designs include The Dominion Club in Glen Allen, Virginia; the Woods Course at Kingsmill Country Club in Williamsburg; and Virginia Beach National. He also designed Brickshire in Providence Forge, Virginia, and Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Georgia. Strange's work extends to Japan with courses at Kameoka Golf Club near Kyoto and two layouts—River and Wood—at Rusutsu Resort Golf 72 in Hokkaido.

His design philosophy reflects the strategic thinking and course management skills that defined his competitive playing days.
