Christy O'’Connor Jr.

Christy O'Connor Jr. was an accomplished Irish golf course architect and former European Tour professional. As the nephew of the legendary Christy O'Connor Sr., he carved out his own distinguished career in golf, competing on the European Tour and representing Europe in two Ryder Cups. Following his playing career, O'Connor Jr. transitioned to course design, where he applied his competitive experience to creating layouts across Ireland and beyond.

His portfolio is concentrated primarily in Ireland, with designs including Galway Bay, which overlooks the Atlantic in County Galway, and Glasson Country House near Athlone. He created or remodeled multiple courses at Fota Island Resort in Cork—Deerpark, Barryscourt, and Belvelly—and worked extensively throughout the Irish midlands and coast. Notable projects include the Headfort Championship and Old courses in County Meath, Mount Wolseley in Carlow, and Ceann Sibeal at Dingle Golf Links in Kerry. His international work extended to Portugal with the O'Connor course at Amendoeira Golf Resort in the Algarve.

O'Connor Jr.'s designs reflect a player's perspective, balancing strategic interest with playability across varied Irish landscapes and resort settings.
