Bob Lohmann is an American golf course architect based in the Midwest, known for his extensive portfolio of original designs and renovations across the central and eastern United States. Operating through Lohmann Golf Designs, he has shaped more than 90 courses, ranging from private country clubs to public facilities, with work concentrated in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, and neighboring states.
Among his original designs, Idle Hour Country Club in Lexington, Kentucky, and Fort Wayne Country Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana, rank among his most highly regarded works. Other notable projects include Happy Hollow Club in Omaha, Nebraska; Westmoor Country Club in Brookfield, Wisconsin; and Knollwood Country Club in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Merit Club in Libertyville, Illinois—designed collaboratively with Bert Getz Sr., Oscar Miles, and Ed Oldfield—hosted the 2000 U.S. Women's Open and the 2016 LPGA UL International Crown, and has been recognized among the top 100 courses in the United States by Golf Week and Golf Magazine. His renovation work includes updates to historic Midlothian Country Club outside Chicago in 2003.
