Bob Goalby

Bob Goalby was an American professional golfer who won 11 PGA Tour events during his career, most notably the 1968 Masters Tournament. Born on March 14, 1929, Goalby captured his only major championship at Augusta National with a final-round 66 that included birdies at the 13th and 14th holes and an eagle at the 15th. His victory came under controversial circumstances when playing competitor Roberto De Vicenzo signed an incorrect scorecard, inadvertently marking a par instead of a birdie on the 17th hole, which gave Goalby a one-stroke victory rather than forcing a playoff.

Following his playing career, Goalby turned his attention to golf course design in the Midwest. His work includes Fair Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville, Illinois, and Orchards Golf Club in Belleville, Illinois. Goalby passed away on January 19, 2022.
