Bill Neff

Bill Neff was a golf course architect whose work concentrated in Utah, where he designed several public and municipal courses that remain in play today. His portfolio includes mountain-valley layouts that make practical use of the region's terrain, delivering accessible golf in settings framed by the Wasatch Range.

Among his notable designs are the Canyon and Lake courses at Mountain Dell Golf Club in Salt Lake City, both carved into rolling foothill landscapes. He also designed Gladstan Golf Course in Payson and Davis Park Golf Course in Fruit Heights, along with River Oaks Golf Club in Sandy and Glendale Golf Course in Salt Lake City. These courses reflect a straightforward design philosophy suited to Utah's public golf market during the mid-to-late twentieth century.

Neff's work helped expand golf access across the Wasatch Front, establishing courses that continue to serve local communities. His designs prioritize playability and efficient use of natural topography, characteristics that have allowed many of his layouts to endure with relatively modest alteration.
