Bernhard von Limburger

Bernhard von Limburger was a German golf course architect active primarily in the mid-20th century, known for designing courses across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. His portfolio concentrated heavily in German-speaking regions, with notable work including Golf Club Feldafing in Bavaria, Golf Club Hubbelrath (both West and Ost courses) in Düsseldorf, and Golfclub Hamburg Walddorfer in Schleswig-Holstein. Von Limburger also designed courses at picturesque locations such as Golf-Club Schloss Braunfels in Hesse and Land- und Golfclub Werdenfels in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

His designs extended beyond Germany to include Golf Club Gastein in the Austrian Alps and Steiermarkischer Golf-Club Murhof in Styria, as well as Golf & Country Club de Bâle on the French-Swiss border and Golf & Country Club Blumisberg in Switzerland. Many of his courses became home to established clubs in major German cities, including Hannover, Cologne (Koln and Marienburger), Stuttgart Solitude, and Main-Taunus near Frankfurt.

Von Limburger's work represents an important chapter in Continental European golf architecture, establishing layouts that helped shape the development of golf culture in German-speaking countries during a formative era for the sport in the region.
