Al Jamison

Al Jamison (1937–2021) was a golf course architect active primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region during the latter decades of the 20th century. His portfolio reflects a sustained practice across Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware, with designs that served both private country clubs and daily-fee facilities.

Among his notable works are River Bend at River Bend Golf & Country Club in Great Falls, Virginia, and Lakewood at Lakewood Country Club in Rockville, Maryland—two layouts that anchor his Maryland-Virginia corridor output. Other recognized designs include Springfield at Springfield Golf & Country Club in Virginia, Poolesville Golf Course in Maryland, and Chartwell at Chartwell Golf & Country Club in Severna Park. His work extended to municipal courses such as Falls Road in Potomac, Maryland, and stretches geographically to Meadow Lake Acres in Missouri and The Rookery North in Delaware.

Jamison's designs are characterized by their accessibility and regional sensibility, contributing to the fabric of mid-market golf in the Washington, D.C., suburbs and beyond.
