Harry Collis was an early American golf course architect active in the first half of the 20th century. He designed the original layout at Phoenix Country Club in Arizona, a course that would later be redesigned by Tom Lehman and John Fought in 2002. The club, founded in 1899 and moved to its current location in 1921, has been recognized among America's most prestigious private clubs.
Collis's work spans several states and includes a variety of layouts. His designs in Course Vaults include the Championship course at Manor Country Club in Rockville, Maryland, and Glenwoodie Golf Club in Illinois. Other attributed courses include Coyote Run Golf Course in Flossmoor, Illinois, San Marcos Golf & Resort in Chandler, Arizona, and The Freeport Club in Illinois.
While detailed records of his career are limited, Collis represents a generation of architects who shaped American golf during its formative decades, establishing courses that would serve their communities for generations.
